What about Generic Drugs?
All CIGNA Medicare RxSM prescription drug plans cover both brand-name drugs and generic drugs. Generic Drugs have the same active-ingredients as brand name drugs. Generic drugs usually cost less than brand-name drugs and are rated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be as safe and effective as brand-name drugs.

Locate Participating Pharmacies

CIGNA Medicare RxSM is a national pharmacy plan that contracts with more than 55,000 retail pharmacies throughout the country, including all major retail pharmacy chains. This network of chain and independent retail, mail-order, home infusion and long-term care pharmacies provides our members with convenient access to Medicare prescription drug plan pharmacies in their area.

In the pharmacy listing, you will find both preferred and non-preferred mail-order pharmacies included in our network. Preferred pharmacies are pharmacies in the CIGNA Medicare RxSM network with which CIGNA Medicare RxSM has negotiated lower cost-sharing than at non-preferred pharmacies for its plan members for covered prescription drugs. However, you will still have access to lower drug prices at non-preferred pharmacies than at out-of-network pharmacies. Your prescription drug copayments will be higher at the non-preferred mail-order pharmacies. You may go to either type of pharmacy to receive your covered prescription drugs.

We have contracts with pharmacies that equal or exceed CMS requirements for pharmacy access in your area.

Where can I get my prescriptions filled?

You will need to go to one of the pharmacies within the CIGNA Medicare RxSM network, except in unusual circumstances. Going out-of-network will cost more. The CIGNA Medicare RxSM pharmacy network provides convenient access to pharmacies, many within a reasonable distance from your home. The CIGNA Medicare RxSM network also includes several mail-order facilities.

You will present your CIGNA Medicare RxSM prescription drug card at the retail pharmacy or send your CIGNA Medicare RxSM card information to your mail-order pharmacy with your prescription.

How will the pharmacist know what to charge me?

You will present your plan's prescription drug card at the pharmacy or send the prescription drug card number if you're using mail-order. The card will electronically access your information – whether or not you still have part of your deductible to pay, what coverage you're entitled to, whether you have extra coverage that reduces the cost and what your copayment should be.

Will I be able to get a 90-day supply of my drugs?

Yes. Plans are required to make 90-day supplies available through pharmacies in their networks as well as through mail-order.

What if I fill my prescription at a pharmacy outside of the CIGNA Medicare RxSM network?

Under emergency circumstances only, you may receive a one-month supply of your prescription drugs from an out-of-network pharmacy.

As a CIGNA Medicare RxSM member, you have the option of receiving your routine maintenance prescription medications through home delivery, including CIGNA Tel-Drug.

Home delivery is designed especially for people who take prescription medications on an ongoing basis. This would include medications for allergies, arthritis, asthma, diabetes, heart conditions, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and many more

*Plans often cover drugs in "tiers". Tiers are specific to the list of drugs covered by the plan. Plans may have several tiers, and the copay for a drug depends on which tier the drug is in. Plans can form their own tiers, so you should contact the plan to find out what copays and limitations are associated with each tier.
